Mexic-Arte Museum’s 36th Annual Viva La Vida Festival & Parade Presented by Austin Convention Center is Austin’s largest and longest-running Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) festival. The festival features a Grand Procession, the Education Pavilion with hands-on art activities and artist demos, and a celebration with traditional foods, local artist and retail booths, a low-rider exhibition, live music and performances throughout the day. Parade details:

Parade Staging: 10:00am

Parade Launch: 12:00pm

Parade End: 1:00pm

Parade Components: Borderlands, Pre Columbian, Mexico Lindo y Las Americas, Chicanx - Si Se Puede!,  and Austin Weird

Route: The parade will gather on 6th Street between 1-35 Southbound Frontage Rd and Red River St, traveling west on 6th St to the festival location at 4th St. & Congress.

Featuring: Live music, costume contest, Austin Lowriding Exhibition & showcase, Muertos Mercado, food trucks, and more!


Education activities at Mariposa Plaza:

Education Activities at Mariposa Makers Plaza include Marigold flower crown making, Monarch Butterfly Mask making, decorating paper sugar skulls, coloring ofrendas, and more!

Muertos Mercado

Viva la Vida features over 20 Dia de los Muertos inspired artists, artisans, vendors, and makers! Visit the Muertos Mercado for the perfect addition to your Dia de Los Muertos altar or the perfect gift for a friend.

Lowrider Lane:

Lowrider Exhibition by Austin Lowriding

Austin Lowriding presents lowriders, bikes, chrome, and hydraulics with fifteen of Austin's finest rides. See them in action during the parade and get a closer look at the details at the exhibition!
