Cantarito Painting Workshop

Join Mexic-Arte Museum and el Jimador Tequila on Thursday, December 20th from 5:30-8pm, for a night of art making, refreshments and extended gallery hours. Education Associate Paulina Dosal-Terminel will lead a Cantarito painting workshop for visitors, no art experience necessary! Participants will decorate by painting on cantaritos and enjoy refreshments. el Jimador representative, Lexie Krall will lead two small discussions on the history and process of making Tequila.

Cantaritos the clay cups — a diminutive version of “cántaro,” meaning jug — are everywhere in Mexico, sometimes filled with their namesake cocktail: tequila, lime juice, lemon juice, grapefruit juice and grapefruit soda. The material: ceramic or clay is known for keeping liquids cool. In the classic game of Lotería, the clay water jug “el canterito” gets its own card.

Admission: $5 or Free for Museum Members
Parking: $10 at Frost Bank Tower Parking Garage, on the corner of Brazos & 4th St. (enter on 4th St.)
