Cantarito Painting Workshop

Join Mexic-Arte Museum and el Jimador Tequila on Thursday, December 20th from 5:30-8pm, for a night of art making, refreshments and extended gallery hours. Education Associate Paulina Dosal-Terminel will lead a Cantarito painting workshop for visitors, no art experience necessary! Participants will decorate by painting on cantaritos and enjoy refreshments.

Cantaritos the clay cups — a diminutive version of “cántaro,” meaning jug — are everywhere in Mexico, sometimes filled with their namesake cocktail: tequila, lime juice, lemon juice, grapefruit juice and grapefruit soda. The material: ceramic or clay is known for keeping liquids cool. In the classic game of Lotería, the clay water jug “el canterito” gets its own card.
